I thought there was no such thing as just Stackoverflow accounts anymore. every user has a stackexchange network account, but can choose which site specific "accounts" they have. The API works on the network account, so even if the user has only ever used stackoverflow they still have a network account and can use the API.
Ah right, I was stripping all the HTML, probably should have checked the raw data more thoroughly before posting. But it seems most (if not all) notifications only have one link in them? Would it be possible to add a link field and have it contain the link that is in the body?
Well if they have the same security restrictions, then won't the potential for abuse will be the same? If that's the case then can't the approving be the same as it is now, anything goes apart from malicious scripts. In fact by making them installable on the site stackexchange can then block them, like apps can be blocked by key.
