Currently a senior software engineer at a large financial institution.
I am one of those guys that wanted to make those Atari and Commodore computers on display in K-Mart in the early 80's do something. I spent way too much time in the 7-11's (and any other arcade) blowing my allowance on Donkey Kong, Galaga and the rest.
That and countless hours playing Zork on my aforementioned Commodore 64 got me hooked on programming, always with a desire to animate things and make really cool graphical stuff. Somehow I ended up doing factory automation software, web site integration to legacy back ends, enterprise apps -- and all manner of other things associated with enterprise software engineering, but have nothing to do with programming. But, so much of software development -- of coding -- no matter the industry or domain it supports, shares the joy of realizing the elegance of some bit of logic and sense of accomplishment at solving a problem.
