About

Since the introduction of Discussions on Stack Overflow, we have dealt with lack of features. Upon asking for the vital features to be implemented, we have seen some efforts, e.g. an API endpoint for Charcoal is in development. However, some of the requested features are not yet planned for near future.

Considering that editing and formatting are a key part of curation, I think it is long overdue to let the community edit Discussions. This userscript is designed to allow editing Discussions by utilizing https://stackoverflow.com/posts/${postId}/edit-inline page.

The userscript adds a new "Inline Edit" button (underlined in red) besides the Share button.

The default inline-edit page is an eyesore, severely limited, and even lacking crucial elements like the title and tags which results in corrupting existing post data.

Hence, the userscript adds those fields (only for the original post, not the replies) and cleans up the page a little bit to make it easier to use. This is far from a streamlined editing experience, but considering the options available, it does save time and effort.

Please note that you need to have full editing privileges (2k+ reputation) in order to be able to edit Discussions (edits to Discussions cannot be approved through reviews).

Installation

Click to install with a script manager. N.B. I have only tested this with Tampermonkey on Firefox.
