Keep getting HTTP 406
It could be a proxy between you and the API that is mangling the headers that are being sent and making the request without compression. This is one downside to mandatory compression.

/user/{id}/notifications API call
I think this was already answered here: Can we have some sort of notification system?
I would like to see this as well but it seems that it isn't going to happen.
