This post is to enable authentication with the version of Sentinel that I'm (cocomac) hosting. See also OBSOLETE - Sentinel - monitoring new answers to old questions.
In early February 2025, there was desire in SOBotics for someone to host Sentinel, and I responded as I could likely host it.
This ended up being more complicated then I expected. Here's some notes on setting it up for future reference:
- Recent version of Ubuntu Server (as of March 24, 2025, this was 24.10).
- Installed Rails using
rbenv - Updated the gemfile to use more recent versions of packages
- Chartkick was problematic, so manually serve it via NGINX
- Run it with
rails s -e production - For support of Ask Ubuntu, import the sites table from here
