Jon Skeet has 100K+, isn't that enough? I would upvote lots of stuff new users posted to encourage them to keep coming to SO. However, this does nothing to help the asker as the actually content of the answers is not being evaluated. Rep shows how long you've been on SO, and you can easily know your stuff with 1 rep.
