comment Real-time desktop notifications for Stack Exchange inbox ( Chrome / Firefox )
It took some efforts, but I've managed to port the extension to a Firefox add-on. I'll update the first post once it has passed review at AMO. Till then, you can get it from the Github repository at github.com/Rob--W/stackexchange-notifications/tree/master/….

@reprogrammer Technically, yes. Can you post a feature request with desired details as an answer, or create an issue on Github? In particular, how do you imagine this feature, what determines whether a post is "new" or "read"?

comment Registering app for API 2.0 key without Oauth domain
I had a valid 1.1 key. After upgrading to the 2.0 API, I received the "bad_parameter key doesn't match a known application" error. So, I went to register a 2.0 key, to find out that an OAuth domain is required. I filled in bogus (stackapps.com), because otherwise it won't let me register a new key.

@GeorgeEdison Currently, Chrome is the only browser which natively support notifications. I can imagine that some users don't like notifications in Chrome, so add an option to set this preference. To implement this feature in Firefox, you can have a look at the source code of this add-on.
