FWIW, I have a set of tools that can do the same thing with an XML data dump: github.com/ghewgill/so-static (there's not much documentation, but enough to make it go)

@gentmatt: I thought I had reproduced the no-sleep problem, but after controlled testing (and closing a bunch of other stuff), my Macbook (Air, Lion) sleeps consistently whether or not the notifier is running.
