@jeraldov Actually, I suspect the app will be retired shortly. Stack Exchange are discontinuing the V1 API, and releasing their own iOS app. I don't see the need to compete against that!

@vermiculus So, that must be a bug in the version of the code highlighting library I'm using. I'll take a look, thanks!

et al, FYI, 1.2 is now in the review queue with a fix for this. Hopefully, it'll be dealt with before Christmas.

sorry about this. I'm writing my PhD thesis at the moment, which is a bit of a time sink! I've done the debugging tonight and think I've squashed this, as well as a couple of other bugs. I've also added iPhone 5 screen size support as a bonus. If it survives a couple of days of field testing, I'll send it to the store for app review.

Thanks for the report - a genuine bug! I'm finding time to do a proper update at the moment, and will be sure to fix this in it. Glad you like the app :)

@DigiOzMultimedia This will come when the Stack Overflow API allows it. At the moment, I'm finding time to work on the new Inbox support

comment Draft Specification for API v2.0
@KevinMontrose Ah, excellent. I only ask because I didn't want to use an "expensive" query just to throw away the results (expensive both in bandwidth used, and for you to compute).

@KevinMontrose Ah, I missed "no_expiry". Thats grand. The lack of a non-browser auth route is a bit sad - it does render the API unusable (or very difficult to use) from some environments (e.g. command lines).

@KevinMontrose But apps, in principle, must have a fallback "Filter creation" system? For iPhone apps, if there's any possibility that they might break, you have to handle them to avoid the bricking of the app.

@Jeremy Wow, bizarre buglet :). Thanks for the report, I shall fix it in the next release. At the moment, I'm trying to find time to integrate the most requested feature - push notifications. Getting that right is a fiddly issue, but I'll conquer it at some point!

comment When will the API allow posting of questions and answers?
Amen. It's beginning to feel like the public API is abandonware - there's been no significant new functionality since early 2010! The only update since then has been exceedingly minor.

@Lipis - Yes, planning on it. An "Enthusiast" edition is currently under development, adding push notification, iPad specific UI and other...special features :)

Thanks for the quick fix, Kevin. But, erm, could we perhaps get some regression testing run every time you push an update? I've had four or five of these panics caused by behaviour changes due to new code , and 1 star App Store reviews that might accrue during faults don't go away!

You need to build a CSSite object via - (id)initWithDescriptor:(CSSiteDescriptor*)_descriptor;. To build a site descriptor, either use CSSiteDescriptors (id)initWithName:(NSString*)_name andEndPoint:(NSString*)_api_endpoint;, or use CSAuth, calling updateSites then using the sites property (which is an object vector of the CSSiteDescriptors provided by StackAuth) once your delegate is notified that the site list is available.

Hopefully :). I do need to retest everything, but I'll do my best to make the change for the next version. I'd not considered jailbreaks, which is a good reason to stay behind (I guess, I've not tried it :).

I can probably work around and make it run in 4.0 for the next release. I can certainly see reticence in upgrading from 3.x to 4, but 4 to 4.1 is really just "plug in, wait 30 minutes whilst having coffee & danish, unplug". The upgrade stats suggest to me that most people have already done so, and some of the bug fixes are compelling, so I'd encourage you to upgrade regardless of Six to Eight.
