I have been writing software on the .NET platform since about 2001. Since that time I've worked on lots of systems including web portals, asset management, ERP, CRM, content management, email, and SOA. I credit my love of research and the bleeding edge with four years at Microsoft Product Support, where I learned how to learn about technology.

If we have any influence, allow me to request the StackExchange Pantheon take a lazy Sunday. Eat ambrosia, lounge on a cloud, and allow us to put a shine on our stuff one last day :)

@mgroves: Does it stop polling after the error or keep going? Are you behind a firewall? Thanks.

This is the first I've heard that an app must make it to the "apps tab"... Am I missing something? I see an apps tag, but no tab. The contest rules on the blog say an app should have some upvotes, but there's no mention of a lower limit. Having said all that, I agree that older apps could get an unfair advantage unless votes are weighted appropriately come Judgement Day...

Normally I would agree with you, but if you go to that route in your browser and use the "#" instead of the "%23" you'll get different results.

Obviously StackWatcher is the use case here, so: StackWatcher looks for activity and does not keep any local cache (at the moment, I may have to go there.) If I query for activity sorted by date descending, I can get answer accepts along with the other activity. No need for specific queries just for accepts, far fewer queries, and fewer total records returned overall.

The idea is that if you want to watch in real time for acceptance of a user's answers, the ability to look at a question and see when it was accepted would make the query much simpler. This method would require looking at activity of the questioner. Doable, but would require more queries.

comment Will there be another contest when Stack API 2.0 is close to release?
I think it would be best if we all consider v2.0 to be roughly analogous to Silverlight 5 and Green Lantern in terms of release date.
