I am a computer geek with interest in Java, C#, and Apache Solr, business models, visualization and whatever else catches my fancy.

I wrote a book on Solr: http://bit.ly/ZPSSt4 and maintain useful Solr resources at http://www.solr-start.com/

No Open-ID integration? I enjoy it so much with SE sites :-)

comment How to generate a list of users ranked by activity (question or answer count).
I think that's going to drop some of the users when they have duplicate scores. The compare has to fall-back on something more unique than just total numbers, like their Ids.

What is the number of users to get past those stages? FAQ does not seem to answer that. Seems around 400 for commit stage.

comment Is Stack API blocking Yahoo YQL services?
Ok, I guess HTTP spec does not forbid you doing that, though this is asking for trouble. I posted to YQL forum asking about gzip aspect of interaction. We shall see if anybody has further insights: developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6627

That's what I am afraid about. But if that's the case, it would be nice to have an official "don't bother" part of FAQ for it.

Usually the client (Yahoo) would need to specify Accept-Encoding header to support gzip format. I don't think the server would send compressed content otherwise. At least that's the theory. Can't see the headers, can't confirm.
