As I move around the site, cleaning up after you, tidying up the mess you leave, you don't notice me. But that's okay. I like it clean. I like it smelling fresh. And that's why I'm the janitor.

Tools in my arsenal:
  - Add kbd shortcut
  - Edit summary options (hacked)
  - Indentation using Tab key
  - Keyboard shortcuts for comments

Rule of thumb for robust source code:
Never assume this line will work as intended when writing the next. Be prepared for surprises.

This is me when I'm working: This is me when I'm working

Alright. What is your target user base? And what limitation(s) of the current flagging system are you addressing with this web app? Expand your 'question' post with the response.

I don't see any flag links. Also the site doesn't play well with Firefox on Galaxy S3 (mobile browser). Looks like a desktop site that needs zooming out.

@Dan You can't, as of Chrome 35. You need to use TamperMonkey. @balpha You may want to add that Shift-Tab accessibility shortcut can be achieved (when using your add-on) as follows: 1. Press and hold down Shift key. 2. Press and release Ctrl while still holding down Shift (text area becomes grey). 3. Press the Tab key. The Shift-Tab action will be performed. You can now release the Shift key.

Also, in Firefox, pressing Ctrl-L shows the JS input dialog but the cursor is in the address bar. I have to click in the JS input box before pasting the URL. In Chrome, the JS dialog (which looks a lot nicer) already had focus so I could paste immediately. I guess this is a browser issue you can't fix on the add-on, but if you can, that will be great.

Bug Report: Press Ctrl L when editing a comment. Input a URL and press Enter (instead of clicking OK in the input dialog). Comment gets submitted immediately (after linking the selected text).

comment <kbd> markup shortcuts
You're welcome. During your next major change, you could also update it to: <span><kbd>k</kbd></span>. Looks more like a proper toolbar button :) (dropbox script is updated). I also think it should be between the Image button and the separator that follows it (Manishearth's improvement?).

@BrockAdams After some tryout in Chrome Inspector, I found that you simply need to change the text [kbd] to <kbd>kbd</kbd> or <kbd style="border: 0px;">kbd</kbd> and SE's CSS will automatically format it to look like a key labelled kbd. It looks very nice... Give it a try! (Download modified version from Dropbox)

I have made changes to the script to make it run in Chrome, and to make it work for suggested edits. Note that this is not a revised version. Doorknob, please use this script to improve yours. I hope you will test in Chrome as I found the localStorage to break. Download from Dropbox

Actually Chrome's Inspector shows $ is not defined. Even changing to jQuery doesn't help: jQuery is not defined. Now the question is, how did you get the extension to run its JS only after jQuery JS was loaded?

Mind explaining what .edit-post is, and whether it has to be clicked before the check boxes can be displayed? I had been trying to modify the script to work with the suggested edit page, but can't get it to even make an alert for the life of me.. I thought both suggested edit and >2000 rep edit are the same page in code, so it just flies past my head why this script wouldn't work for suggested edit...

That doesn't make any sense. I'm always making suggested edits, and I would find this script incredibly useful in making it easier. I'm constantly finding myself typing the same summaries over and over again.

This doesn't seem to work. I don't see the check boxes when I click the edit link and launch the Edit page.

Nice script! Can you make the toolbar button looks like a key labelled kbd? Like <kbd>kbd</kbd> It could just be a hosted image - I think all the other buttons are hosted images anyway.

@balpha Great script! I'm bookmarking it. How about auto indentation? It will be great if, when I press Enter, the new line can be indented automatically to match the previous line's indentation. As a bonus, it could also extra-indent the line after opening brackets by one step and de-indent closing brackets by one step.

The Chrome Web Store suggestion is for when (if?) you fix this. Also, please get rid of the super-thick black border and use that extra space to widen/lengthen the editor/preview. You could also just have a simple X at the top right corner to go back to the normal view.

Can you add this to the Chrome Web Store and have Google review it as non-malicious? Then put an "inline install" link here. Google recently changed how Chrome extensions (including user-scripts) are installed - a user has to manually install any unverified third-party extensions. In other words, SE users have to go to Tools > Extensions and drag-drop the downloaded JS file. More info: support.google.com/chrome_webstore/bin/…
