I am a PhD student at the Algorithms & Complexity group at University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. I research design and analysis of parallel algorithms and data structures.

In my free time I read books, enjoy (and sometimes make) music, code, work out and roam the webs.

@IlmariKaronen No, it's about the usual comment list below posts. :) Let me know if you do!

@IlmariKaronen Since both flag and deletion API are exposed to any user (with enough rep) I'd thought you'd not need a mod account? (Note that "move to chat" is not a feature right now, anyway.) I'd be happy to test but I don't feel I'm qualified to write it.

Regarding comment management: bulk operations might be doable by userscript?

I'm not sure if that's feasible, but moving discussions to chat would be great. The script would have to a) create a new chatroom, b) copy (selected) comments there and c) delete comments.

userscripts.org seems to throw a nasty server error ("Web application could not be started"); am I doing something wrong?

@TimStone Anyway, can't reproduce it now so maybe it was a temporary change in chat, or I don't know what. Thanks for checking!

@TimStone There is no version number in the script but Greasemonkey's "Update" does not do anything, so yea, I guess.

I had this idea for the new Android app but it applies to the browser version of SE, too. Is it possible to disable the preemptive compilation MathJax does and instead compile only when the user clicks on a piece of math? (On my Mini PC with an Atom Dxxx, long math-heady posts load a long time.) I guess that won't be exactly "consensus" for this here fix, but it may be an option for the proposed turning-off feature (with GUI?).

Now that is a feature I would like to have. Is there any chance for an update soon?

@Josh No worries! I know how it is to want to work on some pet project but to not get around to it. Best of luck at work, looking forward to your updates!

@Josh Looks like you are still busy? Do you have a (reliable) estimate on when you can continue working on ThirdPlace?

Two more things: newMessge is fired for the latest message when entering a room. Is this intended? And all newMessage events seem to come through twice (not so editMessage).

I tried injecting a script tag with src pointing to your file but that causes the $-issue again (I guess; at least nothing happens.)

An alternative to passing the DOM object of messages would be their ID; with that, one can retrieve the required elements oneself.

@Josh when I inject your code it works. O.o I am a userscript novice, but does such behaviour not defeat the purpose of @require? Regarding DOM and old messages: that would be cool! I want to tell MathJax to work on the message text so I need a handle, and of course you would want math in old messages to be parsed, too (in particular also when even older messages are explicitly loaded). Thanks for your help!

@Josh No luck. It does not throw any errors but no dialogs pop up. Does the example work for you? Maybe ThirdPlace is not the problem; in this case I would appreciate hints as towards what I am doing wrong.

@Josh Apparently (see definition of inject), chat.SE does not use $ but jQuery?
