Pre-Release Public Distribution Review Don't let this list scare you. Most of the items are minor annoyances or suggestions for improvement. I believe I found just 1 bug. Overall, the app feels polished. It is easy to use. The UI and general flow of the app makes sense. Nice work! I've separated items by view in hopes of some form of organization. ...

Good thing you didn't put a space in the name:

Search on the App Store is a bit of joke at the moment so text in the app description is more or less useless; any possible search terms really need to be included in the list of keywords if they're going to be effective. Stack Overflow and the rest of the trilogy sites are included in Stack Up's keyword string which is why it's showing up in search results. ...

If you have one of these apps, YOU MUST MUST MUST mention it in the keywords section in iTunes Connect. Apple doesn't give you a lot of room (100 char. I believe), but it's important that you mention SO and SE, since without them you wouldn't have the app, so if you have room, include them, if you don't, get rid of something, whether it be your company ...

I hate to rain on the parade, but programmatic writing to the Stack Exchange sites pre-write API isn't supported. While we can't forbid you from trying, you need to be aware that the instant someone uses a similar technique nefariously we're going to come down like a sack of bricks on it. I also know we've seen some more-successful-than-usual bots ...

Thanks for letting me try out the pre-release! Here is my feedback: Overall design could be improved - I guess you already know that, though. What especially annoys me is the icon. adamw : Oh, I know - especially about the icon. But damnit Jim, I'm a programmer, not an artist. And despite the plethora of open source code for people who can't/don't have ...

The "Stack" in the name is okay. As long as your app don't sound like or look like it is owned by or endorsed by Stack Overflow Inc., you're good. • Do name your application with something unique. Including one of the terms, "Stack" or "Exchange" or "Overflow" in your product name is generally okay. It looks okay to me, too because no reasonable person ...

Official bug reports In this post, I'll agreegate known bugs in the v1.0 of the app. For education and entertainment, I'll also explain those that I can - what caused them, and why. If you need to report a bug, please either add a comment here or send me an e-mail (adamw at archgrove dot co.uk). Bugs in v1.1 Selecting "Their favorites" in a user view ...

Just downloaded it. It looks pretty cool, EXCEPT it crashed within about 10 seconds of me using it. I just emailed you the crash log. Even though I'm running 4.1, it looks as if it's not a problem with the OS

:( now it requires 4.1. I can barely catch up ;) does the update use a feature specific to 4.1 or could you lower the base OS to 4.0 again. If you can just do it on the next update? at least I finally have it on my phone :)

As others hae said, searches only currently work on keywords, and keywords are a rocky area in the App Store. The keyword guidance states: "The most common rejections are for keywords which are offensive, objectionable words or phrases; using trademarks, company or product names" The SOF trademark page states "The Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange ...

I finally got around to upgrading to iOS 4 and can now use Six to Eight. But I type in Jonathan to the user tracker, and I can't find myself. As the Jonathan with lowest rep has about 700, I've just added a bounty to a question and now have only 400 rep. I can find myself on Stack Apps however, so it would be nice if either I could just type on my user ...

I thought it might be interesting to discuss a few development and design experiences from writing Six to Eight. I've so far written up two as blog posts over on my personal site: The development of Six to Eight: Gives an overview of my design goals and challenges. Getting the simple things right: Discusses the "Site subscription" feature - both why it ...

I strongly suggest reading the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines (available on the dev portal) as well as researching the ways in which similar successful apps display their data. There's nothing better than apps that have had effort put into their user interface, both in terms of intuitiveness and polish. Especially on an Apple operating system. The mock ...

Have you seen the Digg.com official iPhone app? You could take some inspiration from that in terms of custom UITableViews. Here's an example - just showing the title and the vote count would be enough in my view, then expanding the row displays more information such as The user Date Number of answers. Obviously the thumb icons would go.

Hi Adam. Great work with releasing CoreStack. I'm giving it a whirl in an iPad app I am creating. It might be worth pointing, in the readme, which apple frameworks are required to be linked into your application. It took me a good while to work out that I needed to add SystemConfiguration.framework. Anyway, keep up the good work! Jon

have you thought of adding User Association from StackAuth? I added it to my copy as a class method to SKSite, not sure if it follows the design pattern but it works. Also it doesn't return complete SKUser objects, because stackauth itself doesn't and fetch the complete user object from each site isn't feasible.

nice to see an app out there finally. couple things i noticed the refresh feed icon looks like it's stuck/frozen when not animating get rid of the refresh feed bar. move it to the top right corner maybe? when you scroll to the top and bottom, it doesn't do the elastic animation make tags buttons to browse that tag's questions

There is an encoding problem on User page in Mentions of -section. It seems that non ASCII characters are stripped. I am seeing something like this: Mentioned by EJP @Juha Syrjl:... Correct would be: Mentioned by EJP @Juha Syrjälä:... The very same comment is correctly displayed elsewhere in app. I am using iPad and whatever version of SixToEight was ...

Sorry if this has already been mentioned (there are soo many answers!), but I think that I found another bug in Six to Eight. When you tap refresh, the TextView containing the Q&A Site info, expands downwards. Here's what I mean: Regular StackOverflow Site View: After tapping "Refresh" a few times: After tapping "Refresh" a bunch of times: I ...

Like the idea - code samples don't render so well (too wide) in mobile Safari - but there's a long way to go. I'm reluctant to directly link to it, but I see there is a paid app in the app store that purports to be a viewer for SO, but doesn't make clear whether it is directly affiliated or not. Includes a screen shot with Jeff's name and well-known Coding ...

Hi Dave, I'm using StakKit and love it, but when I tried to include it in managed objective-c project I get following message objc[2411]: '/Library/Frameworks/StackKit.framework/Versions/A/StackKit' was not compiled with -fobjc-gc or -fobjc-gc-only, but the application requires GC I tried to compile the source with GC supported but it wasn't ...

Looks nice. I just did the same thing as a simple demo of SOAPI-JS wrapper. You can see it here. Is not pretty like yours, but is <20 lines of code. ;-)

I (also) experience a consistent app crash like so under iOS 6 (did not occur under iOS 5.x) on both iPad 2 and iPhone 3GS: 1) open site (e.g. Mathematics) 2) open question 3) return to questions using "Questions" button 4) return to sites using "Your sites" button 5) crashes 100% at this point I love the app but this is highly annoying (has made me ...

I experience a consistent app crash like so: searching for issues tagged backbone.js viewing an issue (at random) going back to the issue list Here the app crashes with no displayed message or anything to indicate what went wrong.

I tried to compile the iphone static library, but it failed in SKFunctions.h on line 41 NSString * SKExtractVector(id value, SKExtractor extractor); with the error: Expected declaration specifiers or '...' before 'SKExtractor' (i'm trying to use it in an iOS 3.2 app btw)

Sesame Data Browser can also be used to browser OData and that includes Stack Exchange OData, of course.
