EDIT: Implemented using Web Sockets (because the caching characteristics of the API does not allow real-time notifications). I created a Chrome extension and Firefox add-on, and created a Stack Apps listing at Real-time desktop notifications for Stack Exchange inbox. In Google Chrome, the popup is closed when performing an action outside it (clicking, ...

Thanks for the help, S.Mark. Here's the answer: http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions/xhr.html You must register the API in your manifest.json file under permissions: ... "permissions": ["http://api.stackoverflow.com/"], ... }

status-completed Can somebody please port this to Firefox? I would definitely appreciate it. FF Desktop Notification support: https://code.google.com/p/ff-html5notifications/

Update v2.2 Fixed a bug that showed "undefined" on the add button in some instances If you have a question that you're following already open in a tab, clicking the link in StackStalker now navigates to that tab and refreshes the page instead of creating a new tab If Chrome crashes and jQuery doesn't load for some reason, now it is dynamically loaded so ...

UPDATE: v2.1.1 Fixed bug that would not update if you were following more than one question on a given site Added "Mark as read" functionality Fixed some minor display bugs Added a switch to easily move between dev and release mode Fixed a bug that would not show the correct updated total on initial load This extension is pretty much where I want it to ...

I'm new to SEApps, and given the design of it, I apologize if bug reports are not supposed to be "Answers". Please let me know and I'll move it to the OP comments. That having been said, I just installed this extension, and have a problem. Why can't I manually specify an OpenID in the extension configuration? I don't use a common vendor, I have my own.

Bug Report (status-completed) Go to a tag page, for example this one. You will see a question, such as this: Find the vote and answer count on the left. Click the vote count. You will then get a message in the error console that says Post ID not found! Please report this at http://stackapps.com/q/3082/9699 So now I'm reporting it.

It would be really nice if somebody could rewrite this as a Greasemonkey script using Desktop Notifications, so that I could use this with Firefox. In case that last part left you thinking that there's something wrong with me, take a look at this. :)

This is a very slick, awesome-looking extension with lots of potential. My main feature request would be for the ability to be notified of changes to any question (not just your own), the way that StackStalker does it. This would be great since it looks like StackStalker's author has lost interest in it and hasn't added support for arbitrary Stack Exchange ...

You know, you should probably set the "Developer website" to point here rather than to http://nuc.gr. I was just trying to get back here from chrome://extensions, and upon opening your page, I almost despaired of getting back here — it just looked so sparse. Fortunately, I persevered until I found that the word "geek" linked to your ...

UPDATE I've made some improvments: You can now monitor meta.stackoverflow and stackapps You can choose on the options page whether you only want to see questions that contain ALL of the tags you specified or to show questions that contain ANY of the tags (like SO's Interesting Tags feature) I've made some stylistic changes to the options page (fonts, CSS, ...

Yacoby - I like the idea (and your choice of libraries ;-)), You might want to try and make these requirements a bit more focused, if possible. I realize that I can examine the code and figure out if you are up to hanky panky, but not every one can, and even if they can may not be inclined to, all of these result in a quick, no-brainer 'cancel'. If you ...

StackGuru is great, I was looking for something like this for months. Still the limitation of 10 tags pe user is far too small, probably I would be interested to have a limit of 100 tags or over. I know that I could install my own instance, but this would take too much time.

You can actually just pass in window.location.hostname directly: This parameter can be the full domain name (ie. "stackoverflow.com"), or a short form identified by api_site_parameter on the site object. (emphasis mine) Since the site does not provide the short form to you directly anywhere, going the full hostname route is probably your best bet. ...

Two problems that I have: My display username is "Nomæd" with a unicode letter æ, but it appears as instead. I have 6 associated accounts, and the main one is http://atheism.stackexchange.com/ but I can't make it appear in my list of accounts in any way. Anyone has solutions, mainly for problem no. 2?

StackEye v2.0 brings another great feature viz Follow users on all StackExchange sites. Just go to the profile page of the user and click Follow and there you go. All the Jon Skeet's fans, this feature is for you. Follow him and get informed of all the posts made by him. Keep learning from his great answers and questions. There are too many experts out ...

As you're saying the Chrome extension is just opening the webpage, here's a bookmarklet to do the same for those not using Chrome. javascript: (function(){ var id = location.href.match(/http:\/\/stackoverflow\.com\/questions\/(\d+)/); if(id){ window.open('http://stackoverride.no-ip.org/rank/' + id[1]); } else{ alert('Works for question URLs ...

Doesn't work in Linux. Yep, just as the title says, this extension is absolutely, 100% non-functioning on Linux. After installing, I clicked on its icon, signed in, and saw this success message: Congratulations, you've been successfully authenticated. Enjoy Stack Exchange Notifier! Stack Exchange Notifier authorized! ...but the icon still has ...

The escaping issue has been mentioned already, but I'd just like to accentuate it with a screenshot - As you can see, the HTML is actually being rendered. In the case of an HTML comment, the content is simply not displayed, but HTML content here is being showed as an un-ordered list item. Here is a link to the post from the screenshot.

I know you just posted this: I will be porting extension to not use app engine back-end due to some limitations. New versions of the extension will be making direct calls to Stack Exchange API right from your browser. Please do not expect new versions of the extension any time soon. Sorry. Currently, you may experience some issues using extension, ...

Extension Permissions One of the main unfixed issues is the fact that when installing the extension it says that the extension has permission to access browsing history when it doesn't. Verifying that it doesn't have this permission I have written a bit about it (with links) on the stacked odds google code page. If someone is really worried that the ...

It is surprisingly poor written to me. This are some of the thing that has to be changed: input tag is self closing - options.html When using jQuery you should not use document.getElementById, innerHTML - notification.html function pausecomp(millis) seems like "busy waiting" - background.html html tags interpreted ( wow ) Edit: It is more of a must ...

I wrote a Chrome extension myself (details here) that works against all of the Stack sites, and an approach that I found pretty useful was to maintain a simple javascript object that stores anything about the sites that I may need to access. Here's the snippet I'm currently using: var siteDetails = [ { siteName: ...

As seen in Stack Overflow question Why, in Ruby, does Array(“foo\nbar”) == [“foo\n”, “bar”]?, I get undefined gold badges and undefined silver badges (and quite likely undefined bronze badges) on Super User for Tyson, who has instead exactly 0 badges.

I am not sure if this is a bug with Google Talk but I keep getting messages from stackguru in my inbox while I am offline. Instead I would prefer to get them via the chat client when I became available. Does anyone knows how to tune this? PS. I do not want to disable my chat history because this is very useful feature.
