I am trying to get users stackoverflow info on to my website using the ids of their stackoverflow account they provide us. I am trying to get the JSON content that is available from this link: http://api.stackoverflow.com/1.1/users/{id} , but due to some reason I am getting random text. Is there any specific way to use this? Do I have to make an app at stackapps first and then use the details on my website?

You are likely receiving GZIP'ed content. All data returned by the API is compressed using GZIP. – Nathan Osman♦ Dec 10 '11 at 0:17
