This fix is now included in the Stack Overflow Unofficial Patch (SOUP) v1.20.0

About

We have this nicely formatted toolbar with all of the moderation tools we need below questions:

SE Toolbar

So, why is it that the separator that goes along with the new comment format looks like this?

New comment styling

This is a simple fix that removes the extra space between the separator and the comment buttons and makes the separator the same color as the standard separator.

On Stack Overflow, it looks like this:

Fixed comment styling

As an added bonus, it will match the styling of the default toolbar for each particular site because it uses the SE-defined class for the toolbar separators.

For example, Meta Stack Exchange uses this design for toolbars:

MSE Toolbar

There are no separators, which adheres to MSE's design. However, the new comment format uses separators anyway:

Because this script utilizes the built-in classes for toolbars on each site, it will adhere to its design principles:

  • Version 2.0 has been entirely rewritten in a way that should force the script to act in a way that is compliant with SE standards, thus negating the need for previous workarounds and deeming this (tentatively) the final version.
